Meet the Park West Vet Team
RECEPTIONISTS:
Jessica: I was born and raised here in Charleston, SC. I am currently attending Trident Technical College working towards my Associates Degree in Equine Veterinary Technology. I am also in the process of getting certified as a North American Riding for the Handicap Association Instructor. I have been at PWVA since June of 2004 as a receptionist. I have a golden retriever named Chance and a white lab named Boone. I enjoy fishing, being out in the boat, and riding horses in my free time.
Kimberly: I was born and raised in Beaufort, SC and am currently earning my BS in Biology. My dog Rosie is a little monster and will soon be attending obedience training. My lovely cat Jezabelle thinks she is a dog…thanks to Rosie! I enjoy reading in my spare time and going to the beach.
Tamara: I was born and raised in Pittsfield, Ma. In May of 2005 I graduated from Roger Williams University with a BS in Marine Biology and a minor is Psychology. I will be attending Trident Technical College in the fall of ’07 to obtain my Associates Degree in Animal Health Science. I moved to Charleston two years ago to intern with NOAA studying Bottlenose Dolphin Populations in the Charleston River Systems. I hope someday to have a career in Marine Mammal Veterinary Care. I have been at PWVA since January of 2007. I have one very precious 14yr old antique dog named Paws.
TECHNICIANS:
Anna: I was born and raised here in Charleston, SC. I am currently attending Trident Technical College Veterinary Technology program to receive my Associates Degree in Animal Health Science. I have been at PWVA for three and a half years as a Veterinary Technician. Before my wonderful job here I worked at a kennel for four years. Working with animals has always been my passion. I couldn't’t imagine doing anything else. Outside of here I also enjoy petsitting. The members of my big family that I am caregiver for include four dogs, three cats: Beau & Buddy (10yr and 5yr old chocolate labs), Hines (2yr old staffordshire terrier mix), Killer (6yr old cocker spaniel who is the sweetest), Lil Bit & Mr. Cat (both 5yr old domestic short hair), and Ugs (5yr old tortie).
Creighton: I was born and raised here in Mt. Pleasant. I am a graduate of Wando High School. In May 2005 I graduated from Trident Technical College with an Allied Health Degree specializing in Veterinary Technology. I have been at PWVA for two years as a licensed Veterinary Technician. I have two wonderful cats Callie and Murphy and a very lovable 8yr old cocker spaniel Buddy.
Dana: I was born and raised in Ridgeville, SC. I am a country girl at heart and have grown up with animals around me my whole life. I graduated from Trident Technical College from the Vet Tech program with and Associates Degree in Animal Health Science. I am preparing for my boards to get my certification. I have been working in the Veterinarian field for about five years, both as a technician and receptionist. I have been at PWVA for almost two years. I have three dogs at home, a beagle-lab mix and two Italian greyhounds that are my babies and have been there with me through it all. I love this job it is truly my passion.
Bonnie: I was born and raised in McClellanville, SC. I am a graduate of Archibald Rutledge Academy in McClellanville. I have been at PWVA since September of 2005 and am currently attending Trident Technical College’s Veterinary Technology program to receive my Associates Degree in Animal Health Science. My kids include two 2yr old lab mixes George & Houston, one 1yr old lab/pit mix Lucky, and the Queen Bee, an 8yr old yorkie named Muffin.
Ann: I was born in Savannah, GA but was raised in Ridgeland, SC. I moved to Charleston ten years ago and love it. I am a Wando High School graduate Class of 2004. I am currently attending Trident Technical College earning my Allied Health Degree in Veterinary Technology. I have four labs, Bella, Cotton, and Drake & Corona. I have been at PWVA since January of 2007. I also enjoy horseback riding, boating, and anything outdoors in my free time.
Liz: I am originally from Columbia, SC and moved here five years ago to attend the College of Charleston. I recently earned a BS in Business Administration from the College of Charleston. I will start the Veterinary Technology program at Trident Technical College in January. I have been at PWVA since April 2007. I have four adorable animals at home: two long-hair Chihuahuas (Nyla and Max) and two cats (King Fluff and Sonja Belle).
VETERINARIANS:
Dr. Jay Goldsmith is originally from Augusta, GA. He attended Auburn University as an undergraduate and graduated with honors from Auburn’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
Upon graduating, he began his career at a specialty practice in Sacramento, CA working with some of the top specialists in the field of veterinary medicine. Wanting to return to the South, Dr. Goldsmith moved back to Augusta, GA and worked at Acute Care Veterinary Clinic.
In 2003, he moved to Charleston and opened Park West Veterinary Associates. He currently resides in Mount Pleasant with his wife, Carey, and their sons, Grant, Henry and Will.
Dr. Goldsmith has a 12 year old lab, Gunner, who comes to work with him and a 1 year old cat, Bo.
Dr. Leland Raymond was born and raised in Sandy Run, South Carolina. He attended Clemson University for his undergraduate studies and the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine for his veterinary degree. After veterinary school, Dr. Raymond practiced mixed animal medicine and surgery in Kingstree, SC. From there he narrowed his field to strictly small animal and practiced in Salisbury, NC. With a desire to move and live in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, Dr. Raymond welcomed the opportunity to join the staff of Park West Veterinary Associates. He currently lives in West Ashley. He enjoys anything outdoors, especially fly-fishing.
