Above all, we care about your pet's health and safety.
The Charleston SPCA, officially named the Charleston Animal Society, is a not for profit animal shelter in Charleston, SC. We at Park West Veterinary Associates have supported the Charleston SPCA since our opening in 2003. For a number of years we incorporated a dog wash during our annual open house. The dog wash was free but we asked for donations and all the donations went directly to the Charleston SPCA.
With the help of many volunteers and financial support from the community they have gone from just a society in 1870 to a 31,000 square foot facility that opened in December of 2007. Charleston SPCA adopts thousands of pets each year. At Park West Vet we understand the importance of saving these lost or unwanted animals. If you adopt a cat or dog from Charleston SPCA we will perform the initial medical examination FREE. We are then able to recommend any needed vaccines or deworming medications. We perform about sixty free exams yearly for the newly adopted pets. This is only one of the great reasons to adopt a pet from Charleston SPCA.
Park West Vet has also partnered with Charleston SPCA financially by making a $10,000 donation to support the new facility. As you can imagine to run a facility the size of the one that Charleston’s SPCA has requires a large number of donations. If you would like to donate to this cause you can do so on their website www.charlestonanimalsociety.org.
Charleston SPCA has great volunteering opportunities from cage cleaning, to dog or cat playtime, to greeting, to helping in the retail store. If you have interest in veterinary medicine or if you just love cats and dogs you would be a great help to Charleston SPCA.
Dr. Justin Butler joined Park West Vet in March 2011 and just adopted a dog from the Charleston SPCA. Her name is Kate and she is a yellow lab and just been fabulous with his two young kids. We look forward to working with the Charleston SPCA for years to come and we hope you would consider looking there if you plan to get a new dog or cat.
